Teaching staff

Instruction at IFE is carried out by a teaching staff composed principally of teachers from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris ("Sciences Po") and the University of Paris.

Occasional lecturers (practitioners and professors), internship mentors, and host organizations make up a wider network of individuals on whom IFE depends and who support and encourage IFE in its work.


Dominique Agostini

Associate Professor at the University of Paris, Dominique provides IFE’s students with an overview of the roots, current makeup, and problems of French social democracy. He is a graduate of the renowed Ecole Normale Supérieur (Saint-Cloud) and holds the Agrégation, the highest academic certification.

Christophe Aguiton

Founding member of the labor union SUD (Solidaire, Unitaire, Démocratique) in 1989, Christophe conducts research on the subject of globalization and is responsible for international relations for the not-for-profit association ATTAC. His most recent book is Le Monde Nous Appartient, an analysis of the alternative globalization movement. At IFE Christophe teaches the history of labor movements in France and Europe and the Europeanization of social issues.

Guillaume Blanco

Holding the rank of Inspector in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Guillaume Blanco is currently head of the office for Public Health and Prevention at the Paris Regional Agency for Health and Social Welfare, where he is particularly involved in prevention in such areas as AIDS, lead poisoning, substance abuse, cancer, and malnutrition, as well as in efforts to provide access to health care to least-favored populations. Guillaume is a valuable research advisor for student interns in the field of public health, health care planning, and the like.

Pascal Cauchy

Associate Professor of European History at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (“Sciences Po”) and Administrative Director of the Research Center for Twentieth Century European History (CHEVS), Pascal was also Dean of international students at Sciences Po from 1994-1999. At IFE he helps shape the academic program and teaches contemporary French history. He has published—in French and Russian—on the Russian Revolution and is a specialist on the historiography of communism and edits a book series for Seuil Editions.

Hélène Caune

Hélène is a doctoral student at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris and is associated with the Center for European Studies of Sciences Po, where she more particularly studies European economic policies. Hélène is a teaching assistant at Sciences Po and also teaches at the University Paris X Nanterre and at the Univeristy Cergy-Pontoise. Specialised in the field of political sciences and European studies, she worked with the European Commission (Secretary General ; Directorate General Energy and Transport) and other European organisations before starting her Phd.

Jean-François Chougnet

A graduate of the elite Ecole National d’Administration (ENA) which trains France’s corps of high-level public administrators, Jean-François Chougnet was advisor to the Minister of Culture, Jack Lang, before taking up duties with the Réunion des Musées Nationaux, an umbrella organization of French national museums.

Guy Dreux

Professor of Economics at Lycée Rabelais in Meudon, Guy holds degrees in history, sociology, and political science from the University of Paris. Member of the editorial board of Nouveaux Regards,he is also active in book editing on questions social policy.

Marc Germanangue

Holding graduate degrees from Paris’ renowned Institut d’Etudes Politiques (“Sciences po”), Marc teaches international relations and European affairs at Sciences Po as well as for a number of American universities in France. He is also consultant to Hachette publishing company for a collection of university textbooks (“Crescendo”).

Pierre Grosser

Historian and Professor at Paris’ Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po), Pierre has published reference works on the Cold War (1995) and the Causes of the Second World War (1999). His latest work is on War and Crisis in the 20th Century. Recently named Director of Studies at the Diplomacy Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pierre teaches international relations at IFE, emphasizing the history and evolution of France’s international role.

Anne Lamalle

A graduate of France’s prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure, where she specialized in modern literature and art history, Anne teaches literature at the University of Paris I (Sorbonne) while also serving as editor for the Union of State Museums (Réunion des Musées Nationaux) as well as for the e-learning enterprise Paraschool. In addition, Anne is in charge of the department of the history of literature at the publishing house Editions Gallimard. Her doctoral thesis (in preparation) looks at “The representations of history and politics in the theoretical writings of French writers of the first half of the 19th century”.

Antoine Picardat

Holding the Agrégation, in History, and a ABD in Stategic Studies from the University of Paris, Antoine lectures at the University of Marne La Vallée and other institutions. An analyst for the Ministry of Defense on international politics, he is currently completing a doctorate on "France in the US’ Strategic Vision since the end of the Cold War".

Jérôme Poggi

With degrees in Art History and from Paris’ renowned Ecole Centrale, Jérôme has broad experience in cultural management and cultural affairs (French cultural attaché to Atlanta, gallery management in Paris, opera production in Berlin, directing contemporary fine arts center in Brittany, organizing interprofessional conference on contemporary art) and has founded an Observatory for Contemporary Art. At IFE he lectures on culture and society, and cultural politics.

Bernard Rivière

Founding director of IFE now retired, Bernard continues to carry out special projects for IFE.

Olivier Rozenberg

Olivier Rozenberg earned a doctorate degree in Political Science in 2005 from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris (Sciences Po) for a thesis entitled "The French Parliament and the European Union (1993-2005): Parliamentary roles and their effect on European affairs". In addition to IFE, he teaches at the University of Paris XIII and the Paris programs of Boston University and Columbia University.

Anne Ruel

Anne Ruel-Drossos has just recently completed a doctoral thesis on the « Invention of the Mediterranean: Origins, uses, and future prospectives » at the European University Institute of Florence. Anne teaches at the Institute of European Studies (IES), as well as at New York University in Paris, the University of Provence, and at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques d’Aix-en-Provence.

Mathieu Zagrodzki

A doctoral candidate in Public Policy at the University of Paris II and the Institut d’Etudes Politiques of Paris ("Sciences Po"), Mathieu Zagrodzki conducts comparative research on police reform in Paris, Warsaw, and Los Angeles and has published on reform issues within the Los Angeles Police Department. He is associated with the Center for European Studies of Sciences Po.
